Partner of the most prestigious customers, A.F.R. wants to be in perfect adequacy with the logistics of tomorrow. In this way, A.F.R. has its own engineering and design department and thus devotes a big part of its investments to research: the stress is laid as much on the improvement of the existing products, the search and the development for new concepts that on manufacture of prototypes.

The engineering and design department of A.F.R. made up of 5 engineers and 11 technicians, is equipped with average the most modern data processing on its own systems CAO/DAO with the software such as VAMPIRE, ANSYS, EUCLID, PRO ENGINEER... It proposes three main fields of competences: Studies and design/calculations and simulations/Methods and Industrial Process.

As for the policy of patents developed within its Research and Development department, two main axes are studied, in order to maintain a technical advance towards competitors and to prevail itself to be impossible to circumvent in the railway trade:

For the bogies: development of suspension and brake processes allowing either to reduce the loading height or to reduce the number of planed maintenance interventions or to reduce the total cost of the system possession.

For the wagons and tank containers: development of processes allowing to increase the paying volume or to reduce the tare of the apparatus to pressure.

Respectful of the standards, regulations and requirements from the centers of homologation of the various rail networks, the factory site of A.F.R. has international approvals like U and U2 of the ASME, TÜV Rheinland, and approval dB.

Thanks to its Total Quality process, A.F.R. sets up for any project a solid industrial engineering around a head of project and his team. Thus, the head of project is the single interlocutor of the customer. It is charged to supervise the management of the project of its phase "studies" with its phase "period of guarantee" while passing by the stages "industrialization", "manufacture", "control of the fabrication/reception" and exerts, in particular, the capacities and competences as regards checking of the technical choices, of the respect of the financial, schedule and requirement constraints. A.F.R. always a broad priority granted to the total quality control, conscious that it is about a competing advantage determining, enabling him at the same time to ensure its perenniality and to satisfy the economic, human and commercial objectives of its customers.
